A Laugh
By Peter Larkin

Too painful to hear
Too painful to see
Much pain holds dear
Far too close to me.
Carry on I must
As life goes on and on.
I must go on or turn to dust
In Life too as in Death Anon.
Alone In such a crowd
I could shout out loud
But noticed I wont be,
In a crowd with me.
All alone in my world
With my life in a swirl,
Of normality and sense
Of anger, hatred and without sence.
Yet here I go,
With the memory of good times.
Again today but oh so slow
Of the times that used to shine.
With my family I now hold so dear,
But not so dear when younger.
If only then I could fear
My life as is now so under.
Today I will live
No longer in a swirl-
Today my daughter, my girl
Gave me all to give.
A laugh she gave me
For the whole world to see.
To make us see
Life's just not about me
We're not alone together
Either in pain or not.
Happiness we give forever,
To mend our poorly lot.
Together are we
In happiness or not we share.
No need anymore to sit and stare.
Its not me anymore, but we.
A laugh to make us we-
To share to make pain go away
And happiness to stay,
With us and we.
