Looking to the Moon
By David Locke
There was the night before when I asked the moon why I never got the love I wanted. Why I never acted? Why I never reached? And, surprisingly I found my answer. I was affraid. Fear was the wall I had to reach through.
Then, there was the very next day, when I left the mess hall, and there was a beautiful woman going the other way. I looked up into her eyes and didn't look away.
Then, there was that very evening, when you stood at the bus stop and I walked up wondering if you were the woman I saw at lunch. Of course, it didn't matter, because you were the one regardless.
It was raining. The bus didn't come, so I offered to share a cab. We went off to the mall sharing our conversation. Then, we went our separate ways and met back at the bus stop. Then, I knew, I had to reach through that fear. So I asked you to go to dinner with me. My voice could not hide my fear. And, you said, "You don't have to be affraid of me."
I've loved you from that moment, so long ago. I have never missed you, because you are always here. Thanks for the love you shared.
