The Final Goodbye

Glancing back, I climb the steps
As I board, the midnight train
You’re a silhouette, in rising mist
I know, I'll never see you again
If only, I could hold your hand
I'd take you, to our special place
Looking through the window
A tear, rolls down my face
All aboard, a station guard shouts
His shrill voice, echo's above
The train, then slowly pulls away
Is this the final goodbye my love
I wave you, a fond farewell
Fighting, back the tears
Slowly fading, into darkened night
On a journey, of unknown fears
The last thing, I'll remember
As we finally, drift depart
Knowing, you once loved me
Somewhere, in your heart
