You Came Home
Author Rita G. McCormick
When we saw you walking in the alley
You didn't even seem to need a loan
You didn't even seem to need a comb
You were walking out of the alley
Once I saw you I felt like I was the Lilly of the valley
I cried because I knew your walking at the same time
the same time I felt as a mother part-time
Giving you to God was my only hope
I didn't really know how to cope
Distant and so far away I didn't want to scare you away
I felt a feeling I never felt before that day
As you walked down the alley
You came home
and said you'd stay,
You thought you had enough of play
Considering the seriousness of your life
you thought you'd consider having a wife
All grown up at such a young age
You were facing going to an iron cage
By my friends love you know the guy Jesus Christ
now that he helped you from your heist
I pray that you won't think you just sufficed
Nor did he make it only one but two
meeting at the alley made us anew
This we know will always be true
Our friend made our special debut
Over joyed in the car was three smiling faces
This we can be sure our friend is in all places.
Consider your friend now always to be
this we must always agree
Our friend in common you and me
together we make three.
