Evening With Her
By Donna Gleaton
doni@ntelos.net

Arising early, the same everyday
He finishes his chores and hurries along
Because he misses her and cannot wait,
Even though she left him for another one,
To tell her all about the day he’s had
Gathering some flowers and not wanting to deter
He dons his overcoat and feeling a little sad
He begins the walk that leads to her, and
Thinks about the one who took her to his place
He sits down beside her and asks, “How are you dear?”
She answers by saying, “I am glad you are here.”
They talked for hours that did not seem long
Giving her the flowers he stands up to leave
She tells him this is where I now belong
He smiles and says, “Don’t worry about me
I’ll see you tomorrow, I know he’s the one,
I still miss you, but get some rest,
I don’t understand why he took you so soon,
But He’s our Lord, and He knows best.”

Amen
