The Wedding Dance

See how their feet though big and small
Move along with one another
See how their gazed eyes fixed upon
Just as their fathers and their mothers
Know now the hearts from two to one
Beat the blood of the same life
What's given to one goes to the other
Whether love, pain, smiles, tears, or strife
Watch him still look down upon
Her countenance so mild
The honor she will have so grand
To bare their love by bearing child
And all the love that she supplies
Ceases questions in his life
Like, "How can I still face the world
Without compliment of a wife?"
Oh how then it would be unjust
At this moment to be foretold
A future of calamity
Hot in anger, affections cold
Yes perfect love though they are not
Listen then to the One who knows
Our souls that He alone begun
A three cord rope of strength will show
Around the two a crowd does stand
A circle joined in unity
Of watchful eyes and quiet smiles
For happiness and purity
There as I stand I watch with joy
I stand alone and share their glee
And although it's not bound with contempt
I stand and watch with jealousy
