Mothers Day
By Joe Fischetti
fjoe11@aol.com

A little unfair some may think
Having a day for mothers
Without a day for children
But I know the truth

Having a mother like you
Everyday was my day
Was always my clothes over yours
My doctor visit skipping the one for you

Took only a few minutes
To start up the birth of me
Hours in labor
To produce me
But it doesn't take my life
Or yours to see
That ever since I was in your arms
You have treated me with love

I finally understand
That gifts are great
But a hug or a kiss from the heart
Holds so much more power
And the effects last forever

God's little child lying in your arms
Weeping and crying
Not knowing what his life will hold
But neither mattered
Because you loved him under any case
You never were seriously upset
Unable to see your son cry
To see his heart torn

A picture couldn't show who you are
A personal introduction is better
To prove my mom is the greatest
And still in my aging years
You're still there to protect my frail soul

Wonder what it took up in heaven
For a child like me
To be placed in your stomach
To live along with your life

No one including me
Could ever understand
Just how hard it was to raise 3 kids alone
Constipated with pain
Unable to shed a tear
Because you were busy wiping the one of your son
You slept when I slept
And our mother/son connection
Will never break
And never get weak and frail
Happy mothers day
For the best mother a person could ask for
